the o/d light in a lot of fords is used as an indicator (when flashing) that there is a transmission problem. check the fluid. if it is still red and doesnt smell burnt, your problem may be minor. if it is dark and burnt smelling there may be a larger problem. have it looked at and see if they can pull a transmission code from the computer to see what the fault is. autozone may be able to pull the code for free. otherwise take it to a transmission shop and have it looked at.
